How Thai Food Should Be

We've been to many Thai restaurants around the UK and this is one of the better ones. Service is friendly but not intrusive. You can see your meal being prepared with the kitchen area there for all to see. I ordered a King Prawn Tomhka main dish which arrived promptly. It came with a generous portion of King Prawns, the mushrooms, vegetables etc., were fresh, crisp and spiced to perfection, Garlic Rice was nice and fluffy and, unlike so many other Thai meals we've had, wasn't spoilt by the addition of MSG and salt.

Authentic Thai Food

My grandson had just spent a year in Thailand and was not disappointed wth the authenticity of out Thai meal.

Great Food, Great Views

I really enjoy Thai food, and the Thai Orchid is, without a doubt, one of the best places in Thanet to enjoy it. The food can be ordered as spicy or as mild as you wish - just speak to Tim, the owner/manager, and it can be cooked just the way you like it. Excellent beers, too.

Lovely Food

This was our first visit and will definitely not be our last. The restaurant was very busy but this did not affect the service or food. Reasonable priced food and drink. Starters probable not a good idea as the portions are very generous. I would advise to book in advance as very popular.

Pleasant evening, enjoyable Thai food with friends

We received a warm welcome, the decor is fine if not perfect, the food choice was great. Our friends had not eaten Thai before but the chicken satay with peanut sauce was lovely, the red duck curry was fab. The host was helpful and attentive but not invasive. We were not rushed and stayed for over two hours. This is our second visit, the price was reasonable for the four of us, the background music was not too loud so we could have a nice conversation, and we would definitely return again. Many thanks for a pleasant evening.

Haven't had Thai food better then here in UK

Must go when in Ramsgate if you like Thai food, it won't be easy to find any where else where you get Thai food which is so delicious and comforting like a home cooked meal.

Best Thai meal since we were in Thailand

We had an amazing meal here on a weekend break to Ramsgate and desperate to go back. The flavours are so authentic, thanks to the owner who lives in Thailand, who brings many of the herbs and spices back with him. The meal was truly outstanding. They are happy to make the food as spicy as your palate likes it, and I overheard them taking orders for specific dietary requirements (Gluten free). Everything was cooked fresh in the little kitchen at the back. We'll be back!

THE best Thai food in Thanet!

Having visited this restaurant monthly I can honestly say this is the CLOSEST you will receive to authentic Thai food! I have been to Thailand on a number of occasions and have tried EVERY Thai restaurant in Thanet and no one can touch the quality and authenticity of this food. I have read the "poor" comments on this site and believe them to be very inaccurate. The restaurant is very small and quaint but the food is that delicious he could serve it in a shed and I'd be happy. If you want a beautiful, well presented, authentic Thai meal with very friendly service then this is the place for you. We shall be returning again next month.

First time visit but we'll be back

Went with friends, who'd been recommended to visit and their daughter and we weren't disappointed. Friendly welcome, great choice on the menu the food was nice and hot and we thoroughly enjoyed our starters and main courses. We liked the idea of being able to choose a plain meal and then added spices to suit which was perfect for the eight year old with us. The outside could do with a coat of paint but who cares when the food is good. Most people who arrived after us seemed to be regulars which is a very good sign.

Weekend in Ramsgate

Table reservation was made weeks in advance by friends of ours which says it all really very popular! Advice prebooking for a Saturday evening. Found the staff very attentive. Good service good selection of wines and authentic Thai food, we found it freshly prepared and very nice. Thought the open kitchen was good you could see food being prepared by staff working very hard. Kitchen spices and wafting hot pepper smells added to the rustic feel of the restaurant. Relaxing atmosphere nice ambiance. Would recommend the Thai green curry.
